Frequently Asked Questions
Clear answers about BMW navigation maps, FSC products, NCD secure coding files, remote coding, vehicle reports, digital delivery, payments, and order processing.
Digital Products and Technical Work Are Separate
Unless explicitly stated in the individual product description, a digital product does not include installation, navigation map preparation, FSC import, coding, activation, diagnostics, remote connection, or work performed by a technical specialist.
Products, including signed NCD 2.0 and NCD 3.0 file packages, are normally supplied for independent use or installation by a qualified service center.
Professional assistance, FA correction, remote coding, file import, activation, and turnkey technical work may be requested from CarSoft separately, subject to compatibility, specialist availability, an agreed scope of work, and an additional fee.
Choose the Correct Product
Compatibility should be confirmed before a vehicle-specific digital product is ordered.
How do I choose the correct product?
The correct product depends on the vehicle, installed head unit, software version, navigation map type, region, and required function.
Do not select a navigation product based only on the BMW model or production year. The same model may have been equipped with different navigation systems.
For navigation products, check the complete map version displayed in iDrive. If you are uncertain, contact us before ordering and include the last 7 characters of the VIN and a clear photo of the navigation version screen.
What vehicle information should I provide?
For most CarSoft orders, the last 7 characters of the VIN are sufficient.
Depending on the product or service, we may also request:
- the current navigation map version;
- the installed head unit;
- the required navigation region;
- a clear photo of the iDrive screen;
- a description of the required function;
- FA and SVT files for an NCD order;
- additional diagnostic information.
Retrofitted, repaired, or modified systems may require additional compatibility verification.
Can you check compatibility before I order?
Yes. If you are uncertain about the correct product, contact us before placing the order.
We will review the information provided and help identify the appropriate solution. Compatibility verification is particularly important for navigation maps, FSC products, NCD packages, retrofitted head units, repair packages, and vehicle-specific functions.
Is installation or activation included in the product price?
No, unless the individual product description explicitly states otherwise.
A digital product price does not automatically include:
- installation of navigation map files;
- preparation of a USB storage device;
- FSC import or activation;
- NCD file import;
- FA modification or correction;
- vehicle coding or programming;
- remote connection;
- diagnostic work;
- work performed by a technical specialist.
When professional assistance is required, the compatibility, scope of work, price, and connection time are agreed separately.
Signed Files and Remote Assistance
Signed NCD packages and remote technical work are separate services. Installation and coding are not automatically included with digital products.
What are NCD 2.0 and NCD 3.0?
NCD 2.0 and NCD 3.0 are terms used for newer generations of secure coding on supported BMW and MINI vehicles.
On control units protected by Secure Coding, conventional locally generated coding data may not be accepted. Compatible digitally signed NCD coding files may be required for the vehicle’s specific configuration.
NCD 3.0 is associated with newer and more restrictive secure coding implementations. The required type depends on the vehicle, installed control units, software level, and intended configuration.
Compatibility is checked individually before the order is processed.
How does the CarSoft NCD 2.0 or NCD 3.0 file service work?
For an NCD order, the customer provides the vehicle’s current FA and SVT files read from the vehicle using compatible BMW coding software.
FA represents the vehicle order and its configured equipment options. SVT contains information about the installed control units and software configuration.
Based on the FA and SVT files submitted by the customer, CarSoft supplies a package of compatible signed NCD files for the requested configuration.
The standard NCD file order includes only the generation and electronic delivery of the signed NCD package.
What is not included with a standard NCD file package?
Unless expressly stated otherwise, a standard NCD file order does not include:
- reading FA or SVT from the vehicle;
- editing or correcting the FA;
- selecting retrofit option codes;
- preparing a modified vehicle order;
- loading NCD files into the vehicle;
- coding the control units;
- remote connection or diagnostic work;
- work performed by a technical specialist.
The supplied files may be applied independently using compatible software and equipment or by a qualified BMW service specialist.
What if my FA needs to be corrected or modified?
The signed NCD package is generated based on the FA and SVT files supplied by the customer. These files should represent the intended and technically compatible vehicle configuration.
If a retrofit or requested function requires modification, correction, or preparation of the FA, this work is not included in the standard NCD file order.
CarSoft can review the task and offer a separately priced turnkey service. Depending on the agreed scope, this may include:
- review of the current vehicle configuration;
- FA correction or preparation;
- selection of the required option codes;
- generation of signed NCD files;
- remote connection;
- application of the files to the vehicle;
- final configuration checks.
Availability, price, and connection time are agreed individually before the work begins.
Can I order NCD files without remote coding?
Yes.
The standard NCD service is intended for customers or service centers that can read FA and SVT files and apply the supplied signed NCD package independently.
Remote connection and coding are optional separate services and are not required when the customer or selected service center can complete the procedure independently.
How does remote BMW coding work?
Remote coding and activation work is arranged individually.
Before the session, we review the vehicle, requested functions, compatibility, and available customer equipment. If the task can be performed remotely, we agree on:
- the exact work to be performed;
- the price;
- the connection date and time;
- the required preparation.
During the session, the vehicle is connected to a compatible Windows laptop. Our specialist connects remotely to that laptop and performs only the work agreed in advance.
What equipment do I need for remote coding?
For most supported tasks, the customer needs:
- a Windows laptop;
- a stable internet connection;
- an ENET adapter;
- physical access to the vehicle;
- stable vehicle power where required.
ENET is sufficient for many BMW coding, activation, and NCD-related tasks.
Certain vehicles, older generations, complex programming operations, or diagnostic procedures may require different equipment. We confirm the exact requirements before scheduling the session.
Can every function be activated on every BMW?
No.
Availability depends on:
- vehicle model and production date;
- installed hardware;
- head unit and control modules;
- software level;
- regional configuration;
- current vehicle configuration.
Coding can configure functions supported by the installed hardware and software. It cannot replace physical components that are not installed in the vehicle.
Is remote coding included when I purchase an FSC or NCD package?
No.
The FSC or NCD digital product and the technical work are separate.
Purchasing a code, certificate, repair package, activation file, or signed NCD package does not automatically include remote import, coding, activation, diagnostics, FA correction, or connection time.
Remote work must be requested, reviewed, priced, and scheduled separately.
Can coding changes be reversed?
Many configuration changes can be returned to their previous values, but this depends on the vehicle, software, and exact work performed.
A later dealership or workshop software update may overwrite some custom coding. In that case, the affected settings may need to be applied again.
Vehicle, Equipment and Service Data
Report contents depend on the information available for the specific vehicle.
What information is included in a BMW vehicle report?
Depending on the information available for the vehicle, the report may include:
- vehicle identification and model data;
- exact production date;
- development code and technical data;
- original factory equipment;
- SA option codes and descriptions;
- exterior and interior specification;
- recorded BMW service history;
- service dates and recorded mileage;
- available workshop-related entries;
- available technical campaign or service action information.
The exact quantity and detail of available data varies by vehicle, age, market, and existing records.
What VIN information is required for a vehicle report?
The last 7 characters of the VIN are sufficient to place a CarSoft vehicle report order.
If the supplied VIN is incomplete, invalid, or does not identify the vehicle correctly, we will request additional information before processing the report.
Does the report show the vehicle’s service history?
The report displays service information available in the relevant vehicle records.
Depending on the vehicle, entries may contain:
- service date;
- recorded mileage;
- maintenance or repair visit information;
- workshop or dealer-related information;
- status of a recorded service entry.
The absence of a record does not prove that no maintenance or repair was performed. Work completed outside participating or recorded service systems may not appear.
Does the report include the factory equipment list?
Yes, where the relevant information is available.
The report may show the original vehicle specification and factory option codes, including multimedia, interior, exterior, drivetrain, comfort, driver assistance, package, and regional configuration information.
The equipment list describes the original factory configuration. It may not reflect components that were retrofitted, removed, replaced, or modified after production.
Does the report show technical campaigns or recalls?
The report may contain available information about technical campaigns or service actions associated with the vehicle.
Campaign information can change after a report is generated. For a current safety-related decision, the vehicle owner should also verify the status with an authorized BMW service partner or the applicable official recall service.
Is this an accident or ownership history report?
No.
The CarSoft BMW vehicle report focuses on available BMW-related vehicle, production, equipment, service, and campaign information.
Unless expressly included in the product description, it is not a complete:
- accident history report;
- insurance claim report;
- ownership history report;
- theft database check;
- legal title check;
- mileage guarantee.
When evaluating a used vehicle, the report should be considered together with an independent physical inspection and any relevant local history checks.
Can the report replace a physical vehicle inspection?
No.
A report provides recorded information but cannot confirm the vehicle’s current mechanical, electrical, structural, safety, or cosmetic condition.
A professional physical inspection remains advisable before purchasing a used vehicle.
Processing and Digital Delivery
Orders may be placed at any time and are reviewed at the first available opportunity.
How long does order processing take?
Most digital orders are processed within one business day.
Many orders are completed within 1–2 hours. However, products requiring manual compatibility checks, individual generation, or specialist review may require the full business day.
Orders can be placed at any time. CarSoft does not operate a strictly fixed public schedule; we review and process orders at the first available opportunity.
How are digital products delivered?
Digital products are delivered electronically to the email address provided with the order.
Depending on the product, delivery may contain:
- an FSC code;
- an activation file or certificate;
- a repair package;
- a signed NCD file package;
- navigation map download information;
- a BMW vehicle report;
- instructions;
- another digital package described on the product page.
Check the email address carefully before ordering. If the message is not visible, also check the Spam, Junk, and Promotions folders.
Which payment methods do you accept?
CarSoft accepts payment through PayPal and USDT, subject to availability for the selected order, customer location, technical availability, and applicable law.
PayPal payment details may be displayed during checkout or provided by CarSoft for the specific order.
Instructions for a USDT payment, including the supported blockchain network, receiving address, amount, and payment reference where applicable, are displayed during checkout or provided by CarSoft for the specific order.
Payment availability does not constitute a financial, investment, exchange, custody, or cryptocurrency advisory service.
What should I check before paying with USDT?
Before sending USDT, carefully verify:
- the exact supported blockchain network;
- the complete receiving wallet address;
- the exact amount requested;
- any payment reference or order number requested by CarSoft;
- that fees charged by the wallet or exchange do not reduce the amount received below the order total.
Do not send USDT through a different blockchain network, to an old address, or to an address copied from an unrelated order.
Blockchain transfers may be irreversible. CarSoft cannot guarantee recovery of funds sent to an incorrect address, using an unsupported asset, or through an unsupported network.
An order paid with USDT is treated as paid after the required amount is received at the specified address and the transaction has obtained the required blockchain confirmations.
How are cancellations and refunds handled?
Cancellation and refund eligibility depends on the order status, product type, whether processing or digital delivery has started, whether the product was generated specifically for a vehicle, and the mandatory consumer laws that apply to the transaction.
Contact us as soon as possible if you need to correct or cancel an order. Where a refund is legally due or approved under the CarSoft Refund Policy, the processing method may depend on the original payment method and the technical and legal circumstances of the transaction.
Nothing in this FAQ excludes or restricts consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.
Please review the Refund Policy and Terms and Conditions before ordering.
What happens if I provide an incorrect VIN?
If the VIN appears incomplete, invalid, or does not correctly identify the vehicle, we will request additional information before processing the order.
Customers should check the last 7 characters carefully. Once a vehicle-specific product has been generated for the VIN supplied with the order, it cannot normally be transferred to another vehicle.
Any cancellation or refund request remains subject to the order status, the CarSoft Refund Policy, and applicable mandatory law.
What happens if I order the wrong product?
Contact us as soon as possible.
If processing has not started, we will try to correct the order where reasonably possible. Once a personalized digital product has been generated, prepared, supplied, or downloaded, changing it may not be technically possible.
Product compatibility should therefore be confirmed before ordering. Any statutory rights available under applicable law remain unaffected.
What should I do if the product does not work?
Contact us and include:
- the order number;
- the last 7 characters of the VIN;
- the exact product purchased;
- the current navigation or software information;
- a detailed description of the issue;
- clear photos or screenshots of the error.
We will verify the supplied product and the available compatibility information.
Product-related review does not automatically include installation, coding, FSC or NCD import, FA correction, remote connection, diagnostics, or work by a technical specialist.
If technical intervention is required, it may be discussed and priced separately.
